In Response to one of Nicole's questions...

She asked the question, "What do you think about the supernatural world?, are we being tricked?, is there something else really out there?"

I believe that there is something beyond human conceptions like the supernatural world. I don't think were being tricked, it's just that the supernatural world is very difficult to understand because it brakes all the natural laws and orders of things. I believe that there is something out there its just hard to actually discover it for yourself. The ideas of ghosts, and other magical creatures and ideas are very illusional to people, especially in today's societies because most people think that there just part of fairy tale fiction and myths because people don't normally see ghosts and other supernatural things around often.

If you had a choice to live in a supernatural world, would you be curious enough to live in it?

My view on Human Nature...

I believe that humans survive on whatever they can to live a good life. Having family and friends makes it easier and better for humans to survive knowing that they have others they can trust and count on. Humans live and survive for many of the same and similiar reasons. Even though humans all have different goals in life, they all live to have a good life, wanting good health, education, relationships, and money. People want to have someone by their side instead of being alone so therefore, having any kind of attention is definitely in our nature some how. I believe it's in our nature to discriminate against others who are different. No matter how good a society may be humans will always judge people on their looks, beliefs, personalities, sexuality and religion. Even though some may not intentionally do, they some how do it anyway.

Living a good life in this world is very difficult for many people. Do you think that there will ever be a world peace for everyone to have a good life?

Response to one of Laura's questions...

Laura asked the question, "Would you like to live forever?"

This is a question I've encountered sooo many times in my life and the answer is yes.. I would want to live forever. It'd be sooo cool to be able to be young and good looking and to be able to have fun forever. I think it would be great to see how advanced technology would become and if the earth changes in any way. I know that even the earth has it's limits so I'd be extremely cool if technology got soo advance that humans were able to somehow fly to another planet avoiding earth's destruction. That would be amazing if that would happen and be able to acually live through it and since I would be able to live forever the changes on the new planet wouldn't effect me. So therefore, I'm all about living forever..I'm already freaked out that I'm eventually gonna get old and die some day..maybe I can be turned into an android..haha.

Some people see "living forever" as a curse rather than a gift, why do you think this is so?

Hinduism...The World's Oldest Religion.

This past week, our class has been talking about Hinduism and Buddhism. I didn't know much about these religions til it was brought up. I learned that Hinduism is the world's oldest religion and that came about in India. It deals with the ideas that people believed in reincarnations, a cycle of births and deaths and when one dies they are reborn into another form of life depending on their standards of their mortal life. It's like when someone good dies they are reincarnated into another being or a high leveled animal like a bear or lion. If someone bad dies, it is believed that they'll get reborn into a lower leveled animal or living thing such as a bug or a plant. This is a never ending cycle that is part of the Hindu's beliefs.

If you had the option to be reborn into something other than a human after you died, what would it be and why?

A response to one of Nicole's questions...

She asked the question, "Why is it so hard for some people and so easy for others to remeber their dreams? Does practice really make it any easier or is it just a predetermined thing?

One of my opinions is that it just depends on the person whether its hard or easy for one to remeber their dreams. There's a few variables involved like genetics, its possible that your family might carry a gene for someone to remember a dream easier than another. Another variable is a person's health. A person's health may determine if it's easier for them to remember dreams. If someone is relatively healthy they may have an easier time remembering dreams. If a person does drugs, has a lack of nutrition, a disability or has problems in any other area of health may effect them trying to even have dreams let alone trying to remember dreams.

Another opinion is that I mostly believe that it really is just a predetermined thing. I really don't think practicing how to remember your dreams will help any, infact I don't even think it's possible to have any type of method in practicing remembering your dreams. I believe that there is something beyond nature itself that allows certain people remember their dreams easier than others.

If you had the power to life in a dream-like world, would you want to live in it instead of living in the "real world"?

Humans versus Nature...

This week in class, we started a new topic about Darwin and his theories and ideas. I thought it was a little surprising to hear that Darwin was part of human nature topics because I thought that he was all about science. Darwin was known for his ideas in science that attached to nature of things. The big things that he was known for was his theory of evolution and natural selection by nature. I'ts pretty interesting how they connect with human nature because with the theory of evolution, people have definely changed over the years due to adaption with the different living styles we all live in. About natural selection, it determines on alot of peoples actions towards the world for people to make a good living. In class we were talking about how humans are taking over and sort of controlling nature. This is because people now a days are using highly advance scientific ways to influence with nature by cloning, using machines instead of doing things naturally, there are alot of ideas going around about artificial intelligence which could definetly change the world. Also, people are discovering ways for exploring space in which space is not part of our world so therefore tangles with human nature, and scientists are already using bio-technology to change the traits of animals, as well as scientist are studying more about atoms to use for other incredible unnatural possibilities.

Do you think that people will ever go back to the simpler ways of life or do you think that humans will continue the never ending cycle of advanced technology and other incredible ideas..?

In response to one of Laura's questions...

She asked, "What would you do the last day of your life?"

Me...well the last day of my life I would gather all my family members I ever met across the U.S. and my very best friend and throw an enormous party for all of us to be together and have fun on the last day of my life. Family and friends are really important to me so I'd want to spend the last day celebrating with them. There would probably be around 100 people plus kids because I have a large family and I'd take the time to know each and every one of them as we all party. I can picture this happening at my Aunt Mary's Mansion to hold all the people and there would be tons of exotic foods and games and everybody would be nicely dressed as if it was a christmas party. I remember alot of times when I was young, my family would have huge celebrations and I'd be too shy to meet some family I never met before so thats why that this event would be very important for me to have on the last day of my life.

Life seems sooo short sometimes especially when we start to grow up. If you had the opportunity to pick an age in your life to stay at forever, what would it be?

Existentialism...

The week of April 12th, our class has been talking about existentalistism which I think is an interesting but hard to understand topic. Existentialism is almost defined by it's slogan; Existence precedes essence. Which means that, Us as people have no predetermined nature or essence that controls what we are, what we do, and what is valuable for us. We are radically free to act independently of determination by outside influences. We create our own human nature through these free choices and we also create are values through these choices. So in the existentialist view we are thrown into existence first without a predetermined nature and only later do we construct our nature or essence through our actions. Existentialism has good points but it lacks the point in human nature that people sometimes need guidance to pursue their goal. Too much freedom can cause people to be confused with how to achieve things in life based on just their free choices.

Do you think people can survive without any type guidance?

In Response to one of Karla's questions...

Her post was all about dreams and how they are..She asked the question, "How do you know that your dreams are infant wishes and not something else?"

First off, I don't think that all dreams are based off repressed infant wishes. There are more to dreams than that. Dreams are also based off one's desire's, goals, and memories. I think that there maybe some dreams that are based off repressed infant wishes but I know dreams or at least my dreams come from other things based on what the dreams are about. I have dreams that take place in the past and past things take place in the present this is because the memories I have from my past years are still in my mind and just because I can't remeber all of them doesn't mean they're not still in my mind. I also have dreams about things that happen with people I met today and goals I want as an adult. So therefore, due to all these instances, I believe that dreams are not just based off infant wishes.

Do you think some how that dreams are based on one's past life as well?

Dreams.

This week, the class had to read about a debate about the nature of dreams and how they work. This was very interesting because it deals with Freud's theory about the unconscious. It was explained that dreams are imagined actions that do not happen in reality. When people go to sleep, the action drive doesn't end, it can be just as real as the waking life. I read that when people go to sleep the ego is weakened and the id is more present which deals with the unconscious where dreams can take place. Dreams are still a mystery to me. Even with all the facts I have read in the debate, it's still really hard for me to figure out dreams and how they work. I think that dreams are based on what the person wants and desires and also deals with memories. I believe that when we go to sleep part of our soul is locked in our mind which is why we can still feel things and emotions in our dreams. I also believe that anything is possible in a dream because it's not reality which sounds really nice because the reality can be dull most times. I find that dreams are a good way of escaping reality.

Do you think it would be nice to turn your dreams into reality sometimes?

In response to one of Nicole's questions...

In one of her blogs, she was talking about how bad and strong emotions get the best of us. Her question was "Is it a bad thing to let our emotions get the best of us in situations?"

This answer can go either way depending on what situations one is in. In my opinion it is a bad thing to let our emotions get the best of us because it causes us to be careless and make riskful irresponsable choices. Sometimes people get violent and that always ends bad only if you're not caught but that's rare in most cases. When us as people let emotions get the best of us it causes people to do things that they do not normally do and there usually bad actions. People usually change they way they are for a lenghth of time but sometimes when someone changes they never change back to themselves. Emotions carry a strong impact on how people behave so when people let their emotions get the best of them then it usually results in a negative effect that causes chaos and or violence.

If our world was emotion free, then do you think that there would be so much problems among people?

Freud's Theoy and Sexuality

During the class week of March 29th, we were having discussions on Freud's theory of the unconscious and how sexuality is a major motivation. This is a very interesting predictament because I wouldn't think that sexuality would have a strong impact on the people's motivations especially with the unconscious state of mind. Freud's theory had a few major points, the id, ego, and super ego which is all part of the mind whether conscious or unconscious. During people's lives at different times in their lives the sexual motivations from the unconscious start as infants and grow stronger until they reach adulthood. He explains that sexuality is a major motivation on people's actions and behaviors due to the parts of the mind. I believe that sexuality is an important part of a human's life but I do not think that it has the strongest motivation on people. There are other more important things out there that motivate people such as jobs, careers, money, and memorable places as well as other important things as well that keeps people going.

Why did Freud think that sexuality was the most important motivation on people, do you think this is so?

In Response to Courtney's post...

She asked the question, "If a person is spoiled throught their childhood, does that mean that they are going to act spoiled in adulthood?"

I have heard of many instances where children are completely spoiled by their parents and get what they want and eventually as an adult they are going to act all high and mighty to try to get what they want because thats how it was during there child life. So therefore I agree that people will act spoiled when they become adults because they have been exposed by their parents giving them almost everything they wanted without much punishment. When people are children they don't understand the concepts and reality of life that they can't get everything they want. That is the parents job to teach them about displine even it may require some harsh attempts like yelling and grounding them. Either that some parents are too afraid of discipline or just too lazy to care about discipline are major factors towards children being spoiled. So therefore, when children are apart of that kind of life style for most of their childhood then there is a very high chance that that child is going to act spoiled when their an adult.

If all parents disciplined and didn't spoil their children then do you think that the world would have better appreciated people rather than alot of spoiled, snotty and uncaring people?

In Response to Nicole's post...

In her post, she was talking about people trying to change them selves all the time and some do and some don't. Her question was "Is this a cycle that will never end?"

In my opinion, I think that the cycle will never end because no matter how hard people try to change themselves, they are who they are and that can never change.

When I mean "people change" I mean completely changing every aspect about them. Most of the changing in people we see today are either physical and emotional changes that shape a few of people's characteristics and personal traits. I believe people can change their attitude, the way they look, and the way they view certain things. Sometimes even when people try to change themselves, they can't because it's just who they are and thats all there is. Even when people change a few things about themselves doesn't mean that they changed who they actually are. So therefore, people trying to change themselves will be a never ending cycle.

If everyone was perfect as a person would changing themselves still be necessary?

In Response to Kolb's Question...

In one of his posts, he asked the question, "Do you think there are more good people or bad people in the world?"

That is a really good question but I do not think that there can ever be an answer or sraight answer because for one there are so many people..approximately over 6 billion and the fact of the matter is that people always change. Some people could always be good or always bad, most likely in our world people tend to be good and bad all the time, whether its big or not.

Despite of my little comment, but in my deep opinion, I think that theres a possible chance that there are more bad people in the world because being and doing bad is more easier than being good and moral. Since most people don't like working hard for a living they slack and find it easier to rob, cheat and violence to get what they want.

Do you think that if you did bad things all the time and never got in trouble would be a good quality towards your life?

Moral Rules Are For The Best

In the readings about Hobbes and Rousseau, Hobbes believes that people are better off living in a world with moral rules than without. I believe his theory because living in a world without moral rules would be a mess and chaotic. Moral rules, especially rules and laws supported by our government helps maintain a better society. It limits on what people can do and protects other people from harm and injustice. An example would be someone trying to rob a bank for money, people do not usually rob banks because they know that they would be punished by the law. I also believe that there's no such thing as a perfect society, there are few cases in which people rob banks and do other wrong things. The main idea is that people are better off living in a world with moral rules than without because with no moral rules everything would be in chaos.

Do you think people could live in a world without moral rules such as laws provided by government?

In response to one of Bryan's posts...

He posted the questions, "Do you think it's better to be a realists or an idealist?" and "Do you find it interesting that the occurence of mood disorders is alot higher in economically developed countries than other countries?

In my opinion, I think it's better to be an idealists especially in this society today because everything doesn't have to scientifically proven to make a point or pass judgement on things. It's also better because it allows you to be more open to new things and ideas rather than just accepting something for the way it is. If the world wasn't idealistic at all then I believe that everything would be very closed minded and boring because people wouldn't believe or look in to new ideas about things in life.

I find it not just interesting but not too surprising that other countries have a low occurrence of mood disorders than developed economies such as our country. The fact of the matter is that the more developed economical countries; people have less economic and war problems so therefore they will have alot more time and things to do and have than other countries. Since people have more values and goals they keep on stiving for that which mostly leads to unhappiness. In situations like these people don't usually appreciate what they go through to achieve their goals in life beccause theres many and also don't normally appreciate what they have because there always getting more by having alot of money. So therefore, unhappiness and lack of appreciation can lead to mood disorders.

In countries with not too good developed economy have low occurrence of mood disorders is because since they have less, they appreciate what they have and are able to be happy with it.

If money is able to get you good and valuable things, why can't people be happy with that?

Aristotle and Science

Aristotle believed that things are scientific which is when something is able to be investigated through research and experiments only if one is able to make causal claims about that thing. A random event defies this criterion as it is random, and it is therefore not possible to make causal claims about it. For instance, to make predictions about how it will occur or behave in the future; it is impossible to make such predictions about such a phenomenon because it is, after all random; free of patterns, laws, rules, etc. Honey-water, by virtue of having been illustrated repeatedly to be an effective treatment for fever patients, and which by all accounts should be assumed to remain an effective treatment, is non-random; it follows a specific pattern, that of mitigating fever symptoms. Thus, although honey-water is man-made, as a solution, sugar and water, it possesses its own particular emergent properties and always, or for the most part, serves as an effective treatment for fever. So therefore, Aristotle believes that everything is about science.

Do you think that everything should be based off of scientific research for the proof of something's cause?

In response to one of Megan Cooney's questions...

She posted the question, "Is trying to define who we are just a ceaseless task that we will never solve?" and "Can we not just settle for who we, ourselves, think we are?"

I believe that trying to define who we are is just a ceaseless task that we will never solve because us as people are defined on our physical appearance, our beliefs and day to day activities on what we like to do and sometimes those things changes. Trying to define ourselves is just a waste of time because for one thing we always change over time and two, even if you did define yourself, it wouldn't have any purpose or effect on you. All definition is, is just a one true statement or fact that describes youself and since people tend to change over time, defining yourself wouldn't be much of a success.

I think that we can just settle for who we think we are because it would be easier to just let yourself be. Settling for who you think you are would be alot less confusion on how your supposed to be by definition. By doing different things with yourself will be more interesting on how you live your life.

Do you think that defining yourself with just one definition would be a useful thing to do?

True and Goodness.

This topic was brought up many times in class and has got me thinking about if there really is one ultimate truth and goodness. I honestly don't think there is an ultimate truth and goodness in the world we live in. There are religious beliefs out there that direct some people to the true and goodness but that doesn't apply to all of us. I think that since there are so many people in the world that there will never be an ultimate truth and goodness about things. One person could say you have to do such and such in order to be good and true but that quality may not be suitable for someone else. It's like your mother telling you, you have to get all A's and B's to be a good student but another parent may think it's ok if their child gets a few C's or a D. Another person may say that not going to church means that your bad or unholy but the fact of the matter is that people can be just as good and true even if they didn't go to church. Some people may think that if you don't or barely donate to help others means your a selfish person and just because some people barely ever donate doesn't mean that they're selfish. They may not be able to afford to donate or have the time, but even those excuses don't matter, someone not donating at all can possibly be one of the most caring. Then today, there are many people against gays and bi's and think that it's sinful or wrong to be gay or bi and that its not a true thing to be but again the fact of the matter is that no matter what sexual orientation a person prefers, they maybe one of the most nicest and true people around. So, to sum up all of this, the main idea is that I think that there is no such thing as one ultimate truth and goodness because theres too many people that have many different morals and beliefs to what and how to be good and true.

If there was one ultmate truth and goodness, do you think that there would be social conflicts between people of how to be good and true?

In response to Courtney's post...

Courtney's post was all about the human conscience and she posted the questions, "Do we greatly rely on our conscience?" and "If we did not have them, would it make us evil?"

Well, for one, I think people definitely rely on their conscience. The human conscience is like a small voice in your head telling you right from wrong that comes from deep within your soul. There are many instances today in which people have to use or rely on their conscience. When someone doesn't like another person they try hard to either ignore or pretend to be nice just to not start trouble. When some is hurt or needs help, people usually know that helping someone is the right thing to do and this is all because even though some may not know it each and every human has a conscience in which people rely and seize upon and then there's people who ignore their conscience and do wrong things, which is usually the more mean and terrible destructive people.

If we didn't have our conscience, I truly do believe that it would make people evil because there would be nothing to help people realize right from wrong all the time so therefore this would cause carelessness which would lead to chaos and destruction.

Do you think that if people were completely controlled by their conscience, then would evil exist upon humans?

The Threat of Predetermined Fate

The threat of predetermined fate has a huge negative impact on alot of people today. People fear the idea of predetermined fate because they fear the unkown of something happening either to themselves or to others around them. People sometimes tend to get alittle scared or terrified because they're afraid of the outcome of the future. No matter what the situation maybe for someone, the person doesn't know if the future outcome will be good or bad. One of the biggest things people fear is when they are going to die. Since they don't know when they are going to die; this creates a feeling of deep horror within themselves. Some people fear of other people's death, such as a sick child or an old grandmother. In these cases people will fear the most because death is more of a chance in their fate. So therefore, the idea of predetermined fate has a huge negative impact on many people.

If people are unsure about the future, why do many people take life risking challenges?

In response to Megan Cooney's post..

She brought up the question, why is it that violence and crime have such a seductive effect on the human mind? Well I think it's because that violence and crime is a very easy thing to do because anyone could rob a store or beat some one up to steal something or because they don't like them. People in this world have to work very hard to recieve good things in their life, so the fact is that alot of people today do not like to work hard or at all and they see it easier to gamble, rob or violence to others to satisfy their needs. When people like that see other people who work hard and have nice things they get jealous of those kind of people doing violence to them and things around them because the hard working people have the nice things than people who don't work hard or at all. So, therefore crime and violence are very seductive to the human mind because it's easier than working hard.

Do you ever think that maybe people will realize that crime and violence isn't the way to go...or do you think that there will always be crime and violence among societies?

People and Forgiveness

One day in class, everyone was talking about the way that Jesus forgived people for their wrong doings even if it was something really bad. That people are not like that at all. I agree with this because even really religious people today are very protective of themselves and their values in life. When someone does something wrong even if it's not's so bad they would either get even with the other person, go against them in some way like calling the police or something and even some people would be violent towards the other person that did something wrong. I think it just might be the nature in humans that they would protect themselves against wrong doing people and not forgive them for any reason. Even I do not understand how Jesus could act that way towards wrong doing people because even myself I would not forgive a person if they intentionally did anything wrong to me.

Do you think that the people are like this because it's part of human nature or maybe another reason?

In Response to Megan's Question.

In the end of one of Megan's responses, the question was, What is it that tempts people to commit wrongs against others? Thats a very good question and something that has been looked at by professionals for many years now. But I believe part of the reason why people commit wrongs to others deals with a big part of peoples emotions. Peoples feelings tend to become a big factor because in some cases those feelings can get out of hand and cause people to do violence because they can't take it anymore. It's like someone loosing a relative in the family and in some cases that person might not handle the feelings well so the person might take their anger out on their brother or sister and even other family members. If someone had a bad day at work or school and are haslted and bothered by others might make that person very irritable and cause an act of violence. The feeling of jealousy by people can cause them to commit wrongs to others. It's like someone seeing that someone else leaving their wallet down for a second and they try to take it for the money. Its also like if someone has something really valuable and they try taking it by either sneaking or violence. There are many cases in which some people get jealous or mad that they couldn't get a date with someone and they might try to do something foolish like stealing some elses date or forcing someone to date them. Also can be the other way around where someone is protective of their girlfriend or boyfriend and cause violence to someone who interfers with their relationship. There are alot of cases that cause people to commit wrongs to others. So therefore, I believe that peoples emotions carry a huge impact to why people commit wrongs to others.

Do you think there will ever be a time in the future where there will be no wrong doings from people or do you believe that there will always be endless conflicts between them?

Free Will...I believe in it.

In class we were talking about free will and if people actually have it or not. The professor and other students believe that we as people do not have free will. I on the other hand do believe that people have free will. Any person on this earth is able to do whatever he or she wants to do and think whatever he or she wants to think. Everyone has a mind of their own in which can never be controlled. The only reason why peoples lives seem freeless is because alot of people have obligations in life whether its school, work, and business reasons, as well as taking care of family members and helping society. Just because people do these things doesn't mean that they have no free will. Someone can choose not to go to work or school and do whatever. Someone can easily change their religion, or not even worship it. Some people don't even have to obey laws, thats why alot in the past there were alot of rebellions against the government and boycottes to change the way their society is run. There are many things that people can choose to do in their everyday life. If people had no free will than I believe that everyone would easily be controlled by others and the world would become a black and white kind of world where everything is uninteresting and boring. So therefore I believe that people have free will, I know I do.

Do you think that people or even yourself have free will?

In Response to Misty's Post...

There would be some positives about every one in the world always telling the truth but there would be more negatives that would really mess up our societies. So therefore I agree that the world would be better off if people lied sometimes and not always telling truth. I agree that telling the truth all the time can result into harshness throughout the world. Peoples feelings would get hurt and would result into chaos. Sometimes revealing the truth can be overwhelming to people, in which some cases cannot be handled emotionally well, resulting into madness. This is alot worse than a world in which people lie. So therefore, I think the world would be better off if people didn't always tell the truth.

Truth

Truth is something that people have been dealing with for thousands of years. Not even today, people still do not understand what truth really is and what its all about. People have come up with a number of different ideas and definitions of what truth really is. In our class, truth was defined as, the correspondence of a statement with the way the world is. Some other definitions from different sources like the typical dictionary and web definitions define truth as, a fact that has been verified, and conformity to reality or actuality. All these definitions are very similar and carry the same message but yet people still tend to either disagree with them or think that there is more to it which maybe true considering the fact that even some philosphers disagree and are still trying to investigate more about what truth really is. I think that truth is just the opposite of lies and that there is no absolute truth in our world because things can be looked at by many different ways by many different people. So therefore even today truth still remains part of a mystery.

If truth has been dealt with for thousands of years, why don't people have the absolute definition of what it is? Is it possible that people will ever understand what truth really is?
