She posted the question, "Is trying to define who we are just a ceaseless task that we will never solve?" and "Can we not just settle for who we, ourselves, think we are?"
I believe that trying to define who we are is just a ceaseless task that we will never solve because us as people are defined on our physical appearance, our beliefs and day to day activities on what we like to do and sometimes those things changes. Trying to define ourselves is just a waste of time because for one thing we always change over time and two, even if you did define yourself, it wouldn't have any purpose or effect on you. All definition is, is just a one true statement or fact that describes youself and since people tend to change over time, defining yourself wouldn't be much of a success.
I think that we can just settle for who we think we are because it would be easier to just let yourself be. Settling for who you think you are would be alot less confusion on how your supposed to be by definition. By doing different things with yourself will be more interesting on how you live your life.
Do you think that defining yourself with just one definition would be a useful thing to do?

True and Goodness.
This topic was brought up many times in class and has got me thinking about if there really is one ultimate truth and goodness. I honestly don't think there is an ultimate truth and goodness in the world we live in. There are religious beliefs out there that direct some people to the true and goodness but that doesn't apply to all of us. I think that since there are so many people in the world that there will never be an ultimate truth and goodness about things. One person could say you have to do such and such in order to be good and true but that quality may not be suitable for someone else. It's like your mother telling you, you have to get all A's and B's to be a good student but another parent may think it's ok if their child gets a few C's or a D. Another person may say that not going to church means that your bad or unholy but the fact of the matter is that people can be just as good and true even if they didn't go to church. Some people may think that if you don't or barely donate to help others means your a selfish person and just because some people barely ever donate doesn't mean that they're selfish. They may not be able to afford to donate or have the time, but even those excuses don't matter, someone not donating at all can possibly be one of the most caring. Then today, there are many people against gays and bi's and think that it's sinful or wrong to be gay or bi and that its not a true thing to be but again the fact of the matter is that no matter what sexual orientation a person prefers, they maybe one of the most nicest and true people around. So, to sum up all of this, the main idea is that I think that there is no such thing as one ultimate truth and goodness because theres too many people that have many different morals and beliefs to what and how to be good and true.
If there was one ultmate truth and goodness, do you think that there would be social conflicts between people of how to be good and true?

In response to Courtney's post...
Courtney's post was all about the human conscience and she posted the questions, "Do we greatly rely on our conscience?" and "If we did not have them, would it make us evil?"
Well, for one, I think people definitely rely on their conscience. The human conscience is like a small voice in your head telling you right from wrong that comes from deep within your soul. There are many instances today in which people have to use or rely on their conscience. When someone doesn't like another person they try hard to either ignore or pretend to be nice just to not start trouble. When some is hurt or needs help, people usually know that helping someone is the right thing to do and this is all because even though some may not know it each and every human has a conscience in which people rely and seize upon and then there's people who ignore their conscience and do wrong things, which is usually the more mean and terrible destructive people.
If we didn't have our conscience, I truly do believe that it would make people evil because there would be nothing to help people realize right from wrong all the time so therefore this would cause carelessness which would lead to chaos and destruction.
Do you think that if people were completely controlled by their conscience, then would evil exist upon humans?

The Threat of Predetermined Fate
The threat of predetermined fate has a huge negative impact on alot of people today. People fear the idea of predetermined fate because they fear the unkown of something happening either to themselves or to others around them. People sometimes tend to get alittle scared or terrified because they're afraid of the outcome of the future. No matter what the situation maybe for someone, the person doesn't know if the future outcome will be good or bad. One of the biggest things people fear is when they are going to die. Since they don't know when they are going to die; this creates a feeling of deep horror within themselves. Some people fear of other people's death, such as a sick child or an old grandmother. In these cases people will fear the most because death is more of a chance in their fate. So therefore, the idea of predetermined fate has a huge negative impact on many people.
If people are unsure about the future, why do many people take life risking challenges?

In response to Megan Cooney's post..
She brought up the question, why is it that violence and crime have such a seductive effect on the human mind? Well I think it's because that violence and crime is a very easy thing to do because anyone could rob a store or beat some one up to steal something or because they don't like them. People in this world have to work very hard to recieve good things in their life, so the fact is that alot of people today do not like to work hard or at all and they see it easier to gamble, rob or violence to others to satisfy their needs. When people like that see other people who work hard and have nice things they get jealous of those kind of people doing violence to them and things around them because the hard working people have the nice things than people who don't work hard or at all. So, therefore crime and violence are very seductive to the human mind because it's easier than working hard.
Do you ever think that maybe people will realize that crime and violence isn't the way to go...or do you think that there will always be crime and violence among societies?

People and Forgiveness
One day in class, everyone was talking about the way that Jesus forgived people for their wrong doings even if it was something really bad. That people are not like that at all. I agree with this because even really religious people today are very protective of themselves and their values in life. When someone does something wrong even if it's not's so bad they would either get even with the other person, go against them in some way like calling the police or something and even some people would be violent towards the other person that did something wrong. I think it just might be the nature in humans that they would protect themselves against wrong doing people and not forgive them for any reason. Even I do not understand how Jesus could act that way towards wrong doing people because even myself I would not forgive a person if they intentionally did anything wrong to me.
Do you think that the people are like this because it's part of human nature or maybe another reason?

In Response to Megan's Question.
In the end of one of Megan's responses, the question was, What is it that tempts people to commit wrongs against others? Thats a very good question and something that has been looked at by professionals for many years now. But I believe part of the reason why people commit wrongs to others deals with a big part of peoples emotions. Peoples feelings tend to become a big factor because in some cases those feelings can get out of hand and cause people to do violence because they can't take it anymore. It's like someone loosing a relative in the family and in some cases that person might not handle the feelings well so the person might take their anger out on their brother or sister and even other family members. If someone had a bad day at work or school and are haslted and bothered by others might make that person very irritable and cause an act of violence. The feeling of jealousy by people can cause them to commit wrongs to others. It's like someone seeing that someone else leaving their wallet down for a second and they try to take it for the money. Its also like if someone has something really valuable and they try taking it by either sneaking or violence. There are many cases in which some people get jealous or mad that they couldn't get a date with someone and they might try to do something foolish like stealing some elses date or forcing someone to date them. Also can be the other way around where someone is protective of their girlfriend or boyfriend and cause violence to someone who interfers with their relationship. There are alot of cases that cause people to commit wrongs to others. So therefore, I believe that peoples emotions carry a huge impact to why people commit wrongs to others.
Do you think there will ever be a time in the future where there will be no wrong doings from people or do you believe that there will always be endless conflicts between them?

Free Will...I believe in it.
In class we were talking about free will and if people actually have it or not. The professor and other students believe that we as people do not have free will. I on the other hand do believe that people have free will. Any person on this earth is able to do whatever he or she wants to do and think whatever he or she wants to think. Everyone has a mind of their own in which can never be controlled. The only reason why peoples lives seem freeless is because alot of people have obligations in life whether its school, work, and business reasons, as well as taking care of family members and helping society. Just because people do these things doesn't mean that they have no free will. Someone can choose not to go to work or school and do whatever. Someone can easily change their religion, or not even worship it. Some people don't even have to obey laws, thats why alot in the past there were alot of rebellions against the government and boycottes to change the way their society is run. There are many things that people can choose to do in their everyday life. If people had no free will than I believe that everyone would easily be controlled by others and the world would become a black and white kind of world where everything is uninteresting and boring. So therefore I believe that people have free will, I know I do.
Do you think that people or even yourself have free will?
